The top 20 finalists of this year’s challenge will get the opportunity of the lifetime to attend and compete at #AbuDhabiGP weekend in November
As this year’s Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix edges ever closer, the ADNOC Yas in Schools Al Dhafra Challenge returns for 2022, with the top 20 finalists from across Abu Dhabi earning an invite to compete at 2022 #AbuDhabiGP weekend.
Following the successful launch of the new competition in 2021, the free-to-enter challenge invites students aged from 12 to 16 years old from across schools in the Western Region in Abu Dhabi to compete as part of the ADNOC Yas in Schools programme to inspire Tomorrow’s Champions.
The challenge sees students tap into developing their STEM skills as they create a digital portfolio to showcase all aspects of their new team and design the ultimate model Formula 1 car, with the finalists heading to #AbuDhabiGP weekend to put their designs to the test.
Once students submit their designs to the virtual panel on 21st October, the top 20 finalists will be selected for a unique #AbuDhabiGP weekend experience at this year’s F1 season finale, taking in the sights and sounds of a Formula 1 race weekend.
The students will then join in with a range of challenges to test their model’s speed on the F1 in Schools track, as well as the Telemetry Challenge in partnership with Cranfield University. The students will also take their learning from the classroom onto the track exclusive karting experience at Yas Kartzone with students receiving their own bespoke race suit.
The ADNOC Yas in Schools programme is aligned to support the UAE Governments Future Skills for Youth and National Program for Advanced Skills agendas for achieving the goals of the UAE Centennial Plan 2071. As a youth-focused initiative that offers schools a pathway for project-based STEM learning, the programme invites students, aged 8 to 21 years old, to learn essential skills across science, technology, engineering and mathematics in a fun and unique environment.
